History

Only one other Dirt Late Model event has a longer history held at the same facility than the Silver 1000. The 'World 100' at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) began in 1971, two years prior to the inaugural Silver 1000. Eldora Speedway is now owned by former NASCAR star, Tony Stewart. Other events have a longer running history, but have jumped around to different facilities, only retaining the name of the event. The Silver 1000 has remained at Proctor Speedway since it began in 1973.
